I hope you all had a Fabulous New Year’s and may 2018 give you plenty of films to watch 😛 .
I have come to an executive decision regarding The Quirky Panda and unfortunately, I have decided to take a break. The work load may not seem a lot but it has taken a toll on me for a while alongside everything else and I am going to take a break for the year to get all other parts of my life in order.
I am so happy that you have followed me so far and thank you in advance if you stay 😀 . This doesn’t mean goodbye forever and who knows I may return earlier than planned 😛 .
So feel free to look at previous posts and I hope you have a great time and I may see you again soon.
Another film from the Despicable Me franchise but this one is following Gru (Steve Carell) and his family unlike the Minions movie. Personally, I am glad we are following this family again as these character are what made this series along with the minions (not just Minions 😛 ) . However, this movie is not spectacular as it could have been. Don’t get me wrong this film is alright, almost great and is definitely a brilliant family film 🙂 . Let’s start with the positives. I loved the villain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker) who played his part in this narrative great, his reason for villain worked and his 80’s look was fabulous 😀 . I loved his general 80’s vibe and how his weapons were 80’s items like a Rubik cube 🙂 . The minions were funny in the prison especially with the freedom song 😛 . I also liked the addition of Dru (Steve Carell) who slotted into the “family” well and he became more likable as the story continued 🙂 . He was charming and a fresh update that the family needed for this film 🙂 . There were also sweet charming moments in this movie. Also the final battle was alright and entertaining plus I loved the ending scene with the “5 minute head start” (I won’t hint no more as I don’t want to spoil 😛 ). However, the storyline was not the most original and was only fairly entertaining. The minions weren’t as funny as they could have been and were not in it as much I was expecting them too. I’m not sure if that was a good thing and the general storylines felt like I was watching a television series episode with its individual sub plots. Though this film is still good enough for fans of Despicable Me, children, families and I did quite enjoy it 🙂 . The film is not as great as the original but I think this is better than Minions 🙂 Enjoy 😀
Whether good or bad you will be compelled to watch this movie at least once if you ever loved the Smurfs as a child 😛 . Overall, this is an amazing movie for children that will have them laughing and enjoying throughout 😀 . It is a little too childish and tries too hard to be funny for the adults to enjoy this but it is not too offensive to watch as a family. Though, the storyline was easy enough (plain and simple 🙂 ) to follow and to keep you watching until the end. The CGI is alright and the cast in this are pretty good (Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Jayma Mays plus many more 🙂 ). There is also some modern references that you will note which can be funny and the slapstick humour is okay. The major problem with this movie is that nothing is truly memorable and you don’t really connect with the human characters or the Smurfs. Plus this movie might not keep you captivated throughout if you are older than a certain age. However, saying this it is a movie about Smurfs and it does what it says on the tin 😛 . Overall, this is a really pleasant and traditional children’s movie that is just about escaping a villain and returning home 🙂 . If you go and watch this with little expectations than you might enjoy this and feel quite nostalgic for the original Smurfs 🙂 . Enjoy 😀
A quick Thank You for all who have continued to read, like, comment, follow or have started following recently! I am surprised this Blog is still continuing to get follows and I would not be here without you. Therefore, Thank you for following in 2016 and I can confidently say I will be continuing to post a film blog (with a Panda 😛 ) every Saturday and Sunday. I am surprisingly quite busy and to think back in August 2014 this Blog was to keep me busy 😛 ! Each drawing takes time and I try my best to give you all a decent (quick) review of the films shown this year! So here is to another year of film reviews that I hope you will continue to read or follow during 2017!
This film is a decent and highly entertaining children’s movie involving superheroes 🙂 . Disney does a good attempt at the superhero genre (pre-Marvel Franchise 😛 ) and even adults (or simply fans of superheroes) will enjoy this. The characters are pleasant and likable, you actually want to root for the good guys, impressed by the villains and laugh along with them. Also the humour is very strong in this film! I loved the idea of separating heroes and sidekicks in a high school setting. The narrative is well constructed, clever, plenty of teen drama, entertaining and has a pretty nice twist in the plot 😛 . My favourite scenes are the new kids’ initiation into the school, the final battle and the battle between Layla and Penny. I loved the powers they chose for characters, plants, stretch, speed, flight and the graphics aren’t too bad. Has a comic book feel to the film and the soundtrack is pretty cool (my favourite being “I’ll Stop the World and Melt with You” ) 😛 A highly enjoyable and captivating film that the entire family can enjoy and great for fans of superheroes 😀 ! Enjoy 🙂
May I start with wishing everyone a Happy New Year and thank you all for viewing my Quirky Panda Film Blog 😛 !

There will be more changes come 2016 as my life has suddenly gotten busy 😛 And I have tried to do everything at once, I have to admit now and then that I am in fact Human 😛 . Therefore, I am going to aim to Post a Review for you once a week after New Year’s Day. If I can and if I have time I will Post more but until then it will be once a week 🙂 .

Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy, Disney, Pixar, Children, Family Film
The newest Disney Pixar film about a lost dinosaur trying to find his way home with his adorable critter “human” . This is a pleasant enough film that keeps you entertained throughout and has moments that make you giggle quite a lot 😛 . However, it is hardly anything compared to their most recent film “Inside Out”. This film is definitely aimed at the younger generation and at times they hit the mark as adults and children were laughing in the cinema 😛 . You will definitely see a certain “The Lion King” reference with a pretty different end to a character (won’t spoil 😛 ). However as much as I enjoyed this film, there was a certain dullness to this movie and characters. I wasn’t spellbound, the characters attempted to move me and none of the cast really left an impression. Some areas might be too dark for the children they are aiming for but there are some decent scenes and Spot is a epic companion 😛 . Enjoyable, pleasant enough and worth a watch for Pixar alone but not one of their best. Enjoy 🙂
There is going to be some changes to when the film review posts will be posted. I have had some changes to my life right now with a new job 🙂 . Consequently, my plan to post a review (with Panda) every two days has become a little difficult to accomplish. Therefore, after much discussion I have decided to post a review on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday! A weekend of reviews 🙂 . So remember to check up on reviews in the weekend and I will keep you all informed if a post has to be moved again.
