The Rezort

The Rezort (2015)

Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

This movie in a nut shell is Jurassic Park but with Zombies πŸ˜› . However, don’t get me wrong, just because it is easily described doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie. I surprisingly really enjoyed this movie πŸ˜€ . The film was entertaining from start to finish and I could not guess who would be β€œeaten” or survive the resort. This is a B-Movie so you can expect a certain level of quality but it does try its best and I found it was as high a level as it could go. The characters (the main ones) were introduced well, the action was plentiful and I was given enough of a back-story of the apocalypse to go with the story πŸ™‚ . I did like the beginning as it introduced the tone of the film well; I really liked the scenes when the system β€œfails” and the twist πŸ™‚ . The twist was not the most shocking but it was clever as it made sense (as the characters do mention it earlier so it links the story well) and was a little surprising. I did like the hint that those Zombies may be smarter than expected such as the one who screams and really has it in for the owner (when you watch you will know πŸ˜› ). I don’t know if the acting was the best but I did not really dislike a character and some I was gutted to lose. This is a different, surprisingly good zombie flick that can keep any Zombie fan happy πŸ™‚ . This is worth a watch if you don’t mind B-Movies and love the Zombie genre πŸ˜€ . Enjoy πŸ˜€

I give this film 3.5 Stars out of 5!

Happy Death Day

Happy Death Day (2017)

Genre: Horror, Mystery, Thriller

I was very excited to see this movie from the moment I saw the first trailer and when I did watch it I was not disappointed πŸ˜€ . This film is very unique and enjoyable to watch from the beginning to the end. This movie is a teen slasher flick but the fact the main character keeps coming back gave this film a great edge of interest πŸ™‚ . It was like a horror but also a murder mystery as you were gripped in the story trying to figure out who the killer was. The main character Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe), was actually not a nice character but I liked that as the film went on, she became so much more likable πŸ™‚ . This was very refreshing to be introduced to character like that. There was a good element of comedy with some of the witty and strong dialogue but not overpowering that it destroys the movie πŸ˜› . This movie is not scary horror at all but it is a very β€œjumpy” horror which does lead to a very entertaining movie. I think the overall cast acted well and I really liked how the film kept me guessing. I never guessed who the killer was and the surprise twist near the end definitely took me off guard πŸ˜› . I was very pleased that this movie avoided predictability when working with clichΓ©s from slasher movies. Plus I really liked the soundtrack to this film πŸ˜€ . This was a surprisingly fabulous movie that I would happily add to my DVD collection and watch over again πŸ˜€ . If you like horrors but with a twist or time repeating murder mysteries then this is for you πŸ™‚ . Enjoy πŸ˜€

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5!

Geostorm (2017)

Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Thriller

I was looking forward to a decent disaster movie as I haven’t seen any that have matched up to expectations for a while. This is not the best one you will ever see but it does a decent job πŸ™‚ . The CGI was plenty and decent quality. They were very dramatic to keep you entertained and I don’t think this affected the movie at all. My favourite disaster was the ice blast in Brazil as it definitely kept you gripped to the movie though I did like the fire in Hong Kong too πŸ˜€ . The main characters were alright, I can’t say I was attached to any of the characters and don’t know if I was bothered if they made it. However, to be fair I can’t say I did not like them either and they worked enough for you to enjoy the movie as a whole. I liked the reason for creating Dutch-Boy and the reason why this Geostorm was happening πŸ™‚ . The pace of the movie ran well and it does enough to keep you entertained throughout πŸ™‚ . Each disaster that happened got more dramatic and you did feel for the characters involved (mostly those characters weren’t main characters πŸ˜› ). The bad guy(s) tried to be different and clever which I appreciate but the cheesy attempt to create emotion near the conclusion was too much. I felt more for Max’s friend (when you watch it, you will know πŸ˜› ) then the people in space in the end. The movie ended rather too happily but I still enjoyed the overall movie. This is a decent disaster movie that is great for anyone who likes these types of film with a good story πŸ™‚ . Enjoy πŸ˜€

Be Afraid

Be Afraid (2017)

Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

This is another horror and supernatural creature movie which terrorises a family who have just moved to a small town in Pennsylvania. The story itself is alright and can keep you fairly entertained throughout πŸ™‚ . Β The opening scene was very good and was my favourite part πŸ˜€ . It through us straight into the drama and has us interested to find out what was threatening the family? I liked the character and look of Nathan (Michael Leone) and his scenes with the monster πŸ™‚ . I also loved the scene with Heather (Jaimi Paige) in the bath tub as I thought at this point, we would see more of the monsters and that the story would get more gripping. The overall acting from everyone was okay and CGI was good too πŸ™‚ . However, the story was not the most captivating I have ever seen and was almost at the point of boredom πŸ˜› . I did not really care about the family and the movie left too many unanswered questions. Such as why are the creatures taking people or why (won’t spoil who πŸ˜› ) did they keep the monsters hidden from everyone else? Plus the ending was ridiculous . I mean it was confusing because at one moment we have Dr. John Chambers (Brian Krause) looking for the child then we are given an ending. The film just quickly gave us a kind of solution without an explanation. This movie had potential at the beginning but wasted it on a rubbish storyline and a terrible ending. This was not even scary πŸ˜› . This is a film I would not recommend as it has a forgettable story and no scares. Though, it may be for you if you like not scary horrors. Enjoy πŸ˜›

Don’t Breathe

Don’t Breathe (2016)

Genre: Crime, Horror, Thriller

This is one of the most unique and truly enjoyable horror movies I have seen in a long time πŸ™‚ . The twist is (mostly told in trailers, other reviews and blurbs of the film so watch out πŸ˜› ) amazing and kept me hooked throughout. The main three characters Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex (Dylan Minnette) and Money (Daniel Zovatto) are not likable characters especially Money. They (Rocky and Alex) are given reasons for their bad behaviour but you aren’t supposed to like them initially. However, when the robbing of the wrong house begins everything changed! I loved the constant shocks and surprises from The Blind Man (Stephen Lang) were brilliant πŸ™‚ . He was intense and terrifying plus the more we got to know him the more I felt for the teenagers. The fight scenes were great and the fear, nail-biting, edge of your seat moments were great πŸ™‚ . I loved the scene where the survivors are running from the cellar in the dark πŸ˜€ . I loved the danger element within that scene and loved that they must have actually filmed in the dark as their pupils were dilated. The main thing that is great in this movie was the facial expressions and body language of the characters especially Rocky and The Blind Man. She showed her fear and anguish through her facial expressions which had you hooked πŸ˜€ ! Plus Stephen Lang’s portrayal showed vulnerability, sadness, and anger which made him an intense character I have seen from a horror film for a long while πŸ™‚ . I also loved the ending which allows a promise of a sequel and if not, left it with a great feeling πŸ™‚ . A feeling that neither one of the characters are as good as the other leaving you questioning who truly is the victim? A great horror / thriller film that is very unique, great for horror fans and will leave you wanting more πŸ˜› . Enjoy πŸ˜€

The Shallows

The Shallows (2016)

Genre: Thriller, Horror, Drama

This is an alright shark attack movie that can keep you fairly entertained from beginning to the end πŸ™‚ . Blake Lively was quite good as Nancy as her acting in this movie (through her characters struggles) was believable and you felt for her πŸ™‚ . I liked that she was a medical student and how she was β€œsaving herself” when she was dealing with her injuries. The scenery was very pretty and I liked her relationship with the seagull (though I did feel kind of cheesy… πŸ˜› ). The flow of the movie worked and did keep you watching plus you become very intrigued to see how she could survive. The attack of the Shark was very good and I liked how when one stranger was killed we weren’t allowed to see it. We just watched her reaction which was pretty good πŸ™‚ . I also loved the opening scene with the child and I even liked how the shark was defeated (even if it may have been a little unbelievable πŸ˜› ). The CGI is an issue throughout this movie. At times it looked unique with the phone images integrating with the movie then at times looks poor. Especially the graphics of the shark is very questionable at times. Another problem with this movie is the shark’s motives. I assume it is just some seriously blood thirsty monster that just enjoys eating humans even if there is a massive whale carcass. Though the films suggests it is a normal shark so then that makes you question its motives throughout the entire movie creating a sense of unbelievably. However, the film is alright and keeps you entertained. This is good for anyone who likes survival thriller against a monster attack movie but it is nothing β€œWow”. Enjoy πŸ™‚

Fast & Furious 7

Fast & Furious 7 (2015)

Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller

I can’t say I am the biggest fan of the Fast and Furious franchise as I have only seen around about 2 of these movies. However, saying that I know enough to able to watch this movie πŸ™‚ . It is quite entertaining and captivating enough to keep you watching from beginning to the end. There are plenty of big action scenes in this that are pretty impressive πŸ™‚ . Such as the driving the car through buildings or sky diving with the cars πŸ˜› . Also the fight scenes with the villain Deckard Shaw ( Jason Stratham) were really cool. He made an impressive and deadly opponent plus the hospital scene at the beginning was a cool introduction to the character. I also really loved Paul Walker’s character and his scenes in this such as his “Jump from Coach on Cliff” and “slamming door shut to protect child” were great πŸ˜€ ! However, the overall awesomeness was not carried over entirely and some moments struggle to deliver. Of course we have the bikini’s, fast cars, bums on show and the occasional “sexy” car wash but that is expected with the franchise πŸ˜› . There was a weak fighting scene with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the female guards. It was not very impressive and looked weak compared to the men fights in the movie. If you took this scene out I don’t think the movie would be affected at all. Even the character of Letty and the other female characters weren’t that good. She came off a little bit boring even with her amnesia storyline and no other female character was memorable. Though, some of men were not good either such as Roman (Tyrese Gibson), who at times became irritating to hear his over-the-top jokes. This is not to say it’s a terrible movie because I did enjoy watching and the ending was good πŸ™‚ . I think you have to watch all the other films first to appreciate this movie as for me I felt at a disadvantage. The storyline was good, villain impressive, the action scenes great and a fitting movie in dedication to Paul Walker πŸ™‚ . A must see for those who love franchise and a decent movie for those who don’t πŸ˜› . Enjoy πŸ™‚

No Escape

No Escape (2015)

Genre: Action, Thriller

This film had been recommended to me plenty of times and I can say they were not wrong to do so πŸ˜› . This film hits all you except from an action movie and more πŸ™‚ ! There are plenty of action scenes and it does not let you sit easily.Β  Too many times I was shocked and on the edge of my seat! Owen Wilson is pretty awesome as the main character (Jack Dwyer) and shows that he can act serious as well (not just comedy roles πŸ˜› ). His supporting cast of Lake Bell (Annie Dwyer) and Pierce Brosnan (Hammond) were also great. The beginning scene was done quite well as it set up the situation efficiently, entertaining and kept you captivated πŸ™‚ . Even, when we have to learn where the main characters are we are desperate to see when the situation will hit them.Β  Personally, during that wait (when we get to know the β€œimportant” characters) was a little too long and not the most entertaining. Plus the ending could be seen as a tad cheesy and doesn’t live up to the scenes we had just witnessed. However, when we did see the action they did not lose their initial level of tension πŸ™‚ . My favourite scene was when they have to jump to the next building (I won’t say no more as I don’t to spoil πŸ˜› ). Plus, the constant death and uncertainty throughout was good. Not knowing if anyone was going to survive worked in the film’s favour πŸ™‚ . It began well, has some shocking deaths and shocking moments (one near the end with the daughter) and ended cool πŸ™‚ . As mentioned before, the end is kind of cheesy but the scene with boat (trying not to spoil) was very tense and awesome πŸ˜€ . This is a very good movie that may not be the most action packed but when the big scenes actually happen it makes it worth the watch πŸ™‚ . Enjoy πŸ˜€

Blair Witch

Blair Witch (2016)

Genre: Horror, Thriller

I have never seen the original movie so I am not sure how good this sequel is in comparison. However, I thought this was a pretty decent horror flick πŸ™‚ . The narrative itself as easy to follow and actually has a believable reason for going into woods where you know bad things have already happened. There is the obvious β€œwhy would you?” in this movie as expected but I quite liked the group of friends and thought the story was enough to keep me entertained πŸ™‚ . Even though this movie is filmed in a documentary-like style it did not hinder the film as they used all types of recording technology that we have nowadays. The horror element is alright, not too bloody so people who don’t really like β€œgory” horror movies can enjoy this. There are some good suspenseful scary moments that did have me on the edge of my seat. Such as the crawling underground, getting separated in the woods and the end section in the house πŸ˜€ . I loved the moments when the other two members kept returning to the group (I am trying not to spoil πŸ˜› ) and one of my favourite scenes was the β€œsnapping of the wicker doll”. The pacing of the movie runs steadily along and ended great (the end section was my favourite part πŸ˜€ ). Plus when you see the witch she is pretty awesome and scary at the same time πŸ˜› . This may not be to everyone’s taste but I think this is a pretty good horror film. It is definitely worth a watch at least once πŸ™‚ . Enjoy πŸ˜€
