Blade

Blade (1998)

Genre: Action, Horror, Marvel

Another Marvel movie but this one is before the Marvel Cinematic Universe and itโ€™s a horror ๐Ÿ˜› . I had not seen Blade before but I really enjoyed this movie ๐Ÿ™‚ . The storyline kept me highly entertained throughout and I was hooked from the beginning. The start of movie throws you straight into the story and the scene with the nightclub is a great scene ๐Ÿ˜€ . It is very interesting to watch as well as being a great introduction to Blade (Wesley Snipes) and the world he has to live in. Wesley Snipes performs Blade impressively as his characterโ€™s personality does not seem to falter and it is different from other Marvel Superheroes ๐Ÿ™‚ . His lady interest (though more of a sidekick) Karen (Nโ€™Bushe Wright) is a welcome addition as she wants to fight rather than be saved and I actually believed her which is refreshing ๐Ÿ˜› . The main villain Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) is a decent bad guy and his cool but cruel attitudes to others in his way makes him impressive. The fight scenes are well choreographed and fitted the story well (that it wasnโ€™t placed there for no reason ๐Ÿ˜› ). The graphics and how the vampires die was good and I liked the turn to skeleton death the most ๐Ÿ™‚ . However, the graphic arenโ€™t as good as they probably would have been but it doesnโ€™t affect the movie. It ends well and you canโ€™t wait to watch a sequel ๐Ÿ˜€ . This is a highly entertaining and generally fantastic movie for any Marvel fan or fans of Vampire horror films ๐Ÿ˜€ . Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

I give this film 4.5 Stars out of 5!

Spider-Man:Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Marvel

I have always been a huge fan of Spider-Man since I was a child and have been very excited to see this newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ๐Ÿ™‚ . Tom Holland introduced a great Spider-Man in โ€œCaptain America: Civil Warโ€ and continued in this film by creating a very likable character. He made a brilliant version that was charming and sweet ๐Ÿ™‚ . I loved the story development with its great action scenes, fantastic twists and connections to other Marvel movies ๐Ÿ˜€ . The addition of the โ€œAvengersโ€ and mostly Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was fabulous. He was funny but a great mentor/father figure that helped the story and I looked forward to seeing him and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) ๐Ÿ˜€ . Because it meant more danger / adventure was about to happen (trying not to spoil ๐Ÿ˜› ). The villain Jon Favreau (Michael Keaton) was a brilliant and dangerous bad guy for Spider-Man. He looked impressive, was strong in the battles and his ending was fitting plus different! His twist part way through was amazing and his reason to become a villain was completely understandable (I felt sorry for him ๐Ÿ˜› ). The humour was really strong in this as well ๐Ÿ˜€ . One of my favourite edge-of- your- seat moments was the โ€œelevator sceneโ€ and the other scene was โ€œthe boat in half sceneโ€. The flow of the movie went well and his friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) was a welcome (and needed) addition. I loved the ending of the movie as from that last second I cannot wait to see how the next Spider-Man movie will continue ๐Ÿ˜€ . Also Marvel fans stay for the end credit (as you probably always do) as the very last extra scene is hilarious. A great movie for Marvel Fans that I recommend ๐Ÿ™‚ . Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5!

Iron Man

Iron Man (2008)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Marvel

The movie that started off the amazing Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it ๐Ÿ˜€ . This film might be the most interesting origin story and the most (in my opinion) captivating. I was gripped from the beginning scene to the very end ๐Ÿ™‚ . I loved how in a sense, we have shoved straight into the action (with the kidnapping) as it made you want to see more. Robert Downey Jr. is perfect for Tony Stark ๐Ÿ˜€ . With his great acting skills, Downey Jr. uses Tonyโ€™s arrogance, charm and witty humour to make his character likable from the start ๐Ÿ˜€ . The supporting cast were also great in building the humour and action plus Gwyneth Paltrowโ€™s version of Pepper Potts in this was my favourite version. ย Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) was also a good character in this movie and I really liked his character development and role in this movie. The music is great and the CGI is fantastic ๐Ÿ˜€ . I loved the scenes where Tony is building (and testing) the Iron Man suit that we know today and loved his โ€œrevengeโ€ against the terrorists as Iron Man later in the movie ๐Ÿ™‚ .ย  As well as the humour, there are some touching moments such as the scene when Tony is escaping near the beginning (I wonโ€™t say no more as I donโ€™t want to spoil ๐Ÿ˜› ). Also the danger element in this film and the โ€œnot sure if he will make itโ€ is very gripping (nail biting though you know he is in later movies ๐Ÿ˜› ) . The conclusion worked well and the hints to later films in the franchise such as Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) making his appearance. The movie set a strong bar for the others to follow and this movie is enjoyable to watch multiple times. Plus the actual ending (not the special credit ending ๐Ÿ˜› ) with Tony Starkโ€™s line is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ . Worth the watch for any Superhero fan not just the Marvel Fans ๐Ÿ˜€ Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Marvel

The sequel to the awesome first movie and it definitely did not disappoint ๐Ÿ˜€ ! We got to see the guardians once again and it was nice to see how they have bonded as a group and their development. The beginning was cool as it introduced the new story (and development for one character in particular) well and I loved the new characters. Ego (Kurt Russell) was a very interesting character and his role in the story (I shall try not to spoil ๐Ÿ˜› ) was really good. Adding more of Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) was also a very interesting mix ๐Ÿ™‚ . The songs are awesome again and it was nice to find out what was on Vol. 2 ๐Ÿ˜› . My favourite scene was the โ€œMr. Blue Skyโ€ beginning (for the Guardians at least :P) as that was funny and I also liked the โ€œrealisationโ€ moment. Again, I canโ€™t say too much as I donโ€™t want to spoil but I loved how we learn how โ€œthe twistโ€ affected Peter Quillโ€™s parents ๐Ÿ™‚ . The fight scenes where also good especially the โ€œPac-Manโ€ one ๐Ÿ˜› . Baby Groot is also so adorable in this and the humour level is still pretty high throughout this film ๐Ÿ˜€ . There is also a really sad moment in this movie that is really shocking near the end. Though, it surprisingly did not make it depressive and felt fitting for the characters to continue in the Marvel Universe. The new alien races and the new worlds they introduced to this movie were also exceptional ๐Ÿ™‚ . I canโ€™t say too much more as I think anyone who loves Marvel or the first movie will want (and should) see this sequel. I definitely recommend ๐Ÿ˜€ . Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange (2016)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Marvel

I was very excited to see the newest instalment from the Marvel Universe and was not disappointment by this movie ๐Ÿ˜€ . The story was very entertaining, enjoyable for all and the movie was paced well and had no dull sections. Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing as Doctor Steven Strange and created a fantastic character ๐Ÿ™‚ . I also loved the character of Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) and the villain Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) who was pretty impressive. What I loved the most in this film was the CGI and graphics ๐Ÿ™‚ ! The way the film looked, the way the colours worked together and especially the way the buildings were โ€œmovedโ€ was pretty awesome ๐Ÿ˜€ ! The scenes were enticing and entertaining creating a type of uniqueness from the other Marvel movies. Personally, I loved Dr. Strangeโ€™s clock which was absolutely hilarious (and cool ๐Ÿ˜› ). When Doctor Strange is introduced to the Magic the psychedelic sequence is very different but works well making it a very unique scene. The action and humour is plentiful, the ending (how it is all resolved) worked extremely well.ย  I also liked how they travelled and I would advise you to wait for the scenes after the credits (if you donโ€™t do it already ๐Ÿ˜› ). A brilliant Marvel Superhero movie that lives up to the hype ๐Ÿ™‚ . Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Marvel

This is the sequel that follows the great success of the first iron man movie back in 2008. I really enjoyed this film and thought it created a very successful sequel ๐Ÿ™‚ . Robert Downey Jr. was exceptional as Tony Stark / Iron Man and showed new depths to the character that we had not seen before ๐Ÿ˜€ . We got to see characters from the previous movie while getting to see new heroes such as War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) ๐Ÿ˜€ . The story itself was interesting and loved the danger it presented (the fighting, danger and personal life for Tony). I loved the battle between Rhodes and Stark (one of the best points) though I wasnโ€™t a fan of Gwyneth Paltrowโ€™s character (Pepper Potts). I got where she was coming from but she came across as annoying and mean maybe because I understood Tony more. Though I really like the ending of this movie and Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) was pretty awesome as a villain. Great sequel that I recommend as it hints to greater films to come ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

I give this film 4.5 Stars out of 5!

Itโ€™s not the armour that makes the hero, but the man inside.

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Marvel

I was so excited for this film and it does not disappoint ๐Ÿ˜€ . The narrative is compelling, interesting and I loved the villain Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) ! He was amazingly powerful and the scene where everyone notices him (with the nukes and Stan Lee’s cameo ๐Ÿ˜› ) was one of the best moments ๐Ÿ˜€ . I actually liked the character of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and loved the new cast who reminded me more of the original comics. I quite liked the nostalgic yet new versions of the original stories as it feels like they are trying to make this film more “correct”. Peter Maximoff /Quicksilver (Evan Peters) was awesome and probably the best thing in this movie with his dialogue and his Sweet Dreams scene (won’t spoil ๐Ÿ˜› ). The beginning scene in Egypt was my favourite as it set the feel of the film off well. I loved the entire cast though I felt so sorry for Magneto who was performed great by Michael Fassbender. This is a great film that is long but worth it. Though the film is not as good as days of future past was ๐Ÿ˜› . Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

Thor 2: The Dark World

Thor 2: The Dark World (2013)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Marvel

This film is so much better than the first film and I know I gave the previous one full marks ๐Ÿ˜› . The storyline is more dramatic, enthralling, captivating and the acting has gotten better ๐Ÿ˜› . You see more depth in the characters like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Odin (Anthony Hopkins) that previously had not been shown. Plus other side characters got a fair share of screen time like Frigga (Rene Russo) and Darcy (Kat Dennings). There are plenty of great action scenes and Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) threat is more “threatening” to the world making it more interesting ๐Ÿ™‚ . There are some shocking deaths (won’t say who) that are surprising, work well for plot and create some tender moments. The humour is on point again in this film and my favourite section has to be the “Captain America / Loki” thing ๐Ÿ˜› . Plus the CGI, overall set design of the other worlds was pretty good and it is set in London ๐Ÿ™‚ . I loved the ending scene as it is a shocker and you cannot wait to watch the next instalment. An amazing movie that is definitely worth a watch ๐Ÿ˜€ Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Thor

Thor (2011)

Genre: Marvel, Action, Adventure, Fantasy

This is a decent enough superhero movie that adds to the huge Marvel Universe. I truly liked this movie and was highly entertained ๐Ÿ™‚ . ย I know I have said before that some films feel like they throw you straight into the action but this one truly does. It throws you in, brings you back to the beginning then takes you back to the start before it continues. I liked this as it keep me very entertained, I liked how the situation built and the overall story was crafted well. Great cast in this film such as Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins ๐Ÿ˜€ . ย There are nice touches of humour in this film along with the dramatic battles and decent CGI ๐Ÿ˜› . My favourite funny moment has to be the “Xena, Jackie Chan and Robin Hood” quote ๐Ÿ˜› . The character of Jane Foster was a decent character type (than the typical superhero love interest), she was likable and the relationship was believable. Also my favourite part in this movie is Thor trying to get his Hammer back ๐Ÿ™‚ A great story for those who are a fan of Thor, a fan of the Marvel Universe and will need to see this film before Avengers Assemble ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€
