Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge (2017)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

The ending to the great Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (or so they say πŸ˜› ) which is wonderful for those who love those movies πŸ™‚ . The narrative is good and entertaining throughout. The beginning scene was really amazing as it connected us with the new character Henry (Brenton Thwaites) straight away while giving us nostalgia by reminding us of older story lines πŸ˜€ . I really did like the character of Henry and I did like the new addition of Carina (Kaya Scodelario) especially her role. I enjoyed as we learnt more of her past and appreciated her role as a smart but not overly rich pretty girl making her different from other female roles in this franchise πŸ™‚ . I also loved the look of the villains, loved the new main villain Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and their half rotten appearance. How the ship “ate” was also great πŸ˜€ . The scene where we see how that crew (the villains) came to be was one of my favourites and there are plenty of good action scenes. I also appreciate that we got to see the majority of the old cast back (Johnny Depp still fabulous as Captain Jack πŸ™‚ ) and the cameo of Paul McCartney was amazing πŸ˜€ !! The humour is also strong especially the scene of the guillotine πŸ˜› . However, as much as I loved this I am uncertain of if I loved this out of pure loyalty. The narrative at times is not captivating enough to enthral and this still is nothing compared to the original movie. I felt a spark had disappeared somewhere either in the narrative or script of maybe they couldn’t live up to expectation. It’s a shame but this is still way better than the fourth instalment πŸ˜› . Overall, a strong finish that may not be a good as the original but great for any fan wanting to see their favourite characters one last time πŸ™‚ . Plus the monkey is back so I am pleased πŸ˜› . Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 4 Stars out of 5!
