I was unsure about this movie and by the whim of my sister I gave this film a shot. And boy, I am glad I did 😀 . Not only does it have a great cast such as Anne Hathaway and Dan Stevens it has an amazingly unique narrative. It is a monster flick but the path it leads you on makes it far more unique than any other so far 😀 . Sure, it’s not as action packed like other monster flicks but that work in its favour. I loved the fact this easy following pace just kept tricking me through out 😀 . For example, I thought it would end differently or a character who I thought was good ended up being really bad. They (the bad one) were my favourite character in this because it was such a switch (so unlikable but great for story 😛 ) but I can’t say who as that would spoil the film 😛 . Anne Hathaway (Gloria) was fabulous in this especially when she became horrified part way through the film after she is “beat up” in the park. The movement were so genuine that I felt her pain and felt for her character. The humour is strong in this and the comedy of the pub friends in great at the start 🙂 . My favourite comedy moments were the “I am the monster” dance section and the café talk between Gloria and Oscar (Jason Sudeikis). I loved that the story got darker and the twist (remembering when she was a kid) was fitting and cool. Also that end section to finish the tale was done so cool that it becomes unique 🙂 . I really loved this film and was so glad that it was better than I expected it to be 😀 . I would recommend this movie but don’t go expecting some great dramatic monster flick. Accept that it is slow, let its steady pace to lead you and you will be pleasantly surprised 🙂 . Enjoy 🙂
I give this film 4.5 Stars out of 5!
