How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure
The sequel to the first “How to Train Your Dragon” and it had a lot to live up to. It lives up pretty well and was entertained throughout the entire film 🙂 . The story is simple to follow but keeps the feel and nostalgia of the first movie while giving us new characters that slot in well. I loved the fact the Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) looks grown up and even had a stubble which is pretty good for an animation 😀 ! The beginning is good as it throws you straight into the story with the familiar and favourite characters of the series. It also has plenty of danger for the characters, twists and fights to keep most entertained 😛 . I liked the development for Hiccup and the new character of Valka (voiced by Cate Blanchett) was a nice addition. I also found parts funny such as Ruffnut (Kristen Wing) when she sees Eret (Kit Harington) 😛 . The music and sense of adventure is nice in this and the bad guy was impressive with his army of Dragons (won’t say much more as I don’t want to spoil 😛 ). There is also a shocking death that happens (again can’t say who 😛 ) that I had not expected and was done quite effectively 🙂 . However, the only downside was, during the middle section, the pace slowed and just wasn’t as captivating as it could have been. Therefore, the sequel is pretty great for fans of the original but just isn’t as good as it could have been 😛 . Enjoy 😀
I give this film 4 Stars out of 5!
