Money Monster

Money Monster (2016)

Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller

I was very much looking forward to this thriller about a television programme “Money Monster” being held hostage especially when George Clooney and Julia Robert would be in it 🙂 . Unfortunately, as much as this was good, there was something missing. Don’t get me wrong the storyline is intriguing enough and the danger level is fairly strong at the beginning. The story progresses well enough and the switch of the villain role with Kyle (Jack O’Connell) was good. I wanted him to succeed in his mission as some of his intentions have merit (don’t want to spoil too much in case you do actually watch this 😛 ). I liked the beginning scene and the scene when the FBI/police start to infiltrate the television station. The start actually is quite good and does build up the drama quite well. I liked the character of Lee Gates (George Clooney) and liked his relationship with Petty Fenn (Julia Roberts). However, the twist with Kyle’s character could have been more refined and written more cleverly. Plus his development with his girlfriend was unnecessary and annoying. I think what was wrong with this movie was that the level of drama in the beginning doesn’t maintain throughout and the climax isn’t that climatic 😛 . Rather, the end is mediocre and slightly irritating especially with what happens to the characters (you will know what I mean if you watch it). A good enough film that will fill up time but not as good as it should have been. Enjoy 🙂

I give this film 2.5 Stars out of 5!

Also have a Wonderful New Year!
