The Rugrats Movie (1998)
Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy, Children
This is a film that fans of the original series will absolutely enjoy but those who didn’t might not π . The artwork is familiar and matches the series well so you can’t fault it. There are some references to pop culture such as “Indiana Jones” at the beginning π . My favourite character was (and always will be) Angelica who is fabulous in this narrative and has an amazing song! Her hunt scene while singing Blondie’s “One way or another” was one of the best scenes in the movie π . The humour in this film is mostly aimed at children but it tried to appeal to adults as well. Parts of the humour got a little weird, strange and some I assume is only for children because it wasn’t funny. The plot is simple enough to follow and is interesting enough. I enjoyed the parents side of the story more than the Rugrats but overall it was not too bad of a story. The relationship between Tommy and new baby Dill was nice enough for the narrative but got a little annoying for me. I was totally on Tommy’s side and it got dragged too long though when it got over the “problem” it became okay (I suppose π ). Overall, a great film for those who want to take a nostalgic trip down 90’s children series classics but not for everyone π . Enjoy π
I give this film 2 Stars out of 5!
