The Last Witch Hunter

The Last Witch Hunter (2015)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

This film is not half as bad as you might expect πŸ˜› . There is a decent cast in this film such as Michael Caine, Elijah Wood and Rose Leslie. Credit needs to go to the leading actor Vin Diesel who actually performs great in this movie, creating a believable character Kaulder πŸ™‚ . The narrative began well with a strong opening which gave all the expectations of what was to follow. I liked the idea of how the character came about and the design of the witches πŸ˜€ . There was quite good special effects in this movie creating a nice overall look to some of the scenes such as the beautifies and the magic “club”. However, it does fall for the trap of the stereotypes and predictability you get from most fantasy films πŸ˜› . The middle made the film seem longer (not in a good way) and it made the story feel dragged out. Almost in way were some sections could have been made snapper (more shorter) and would have benefited the overall tale of the movie. Though I actually enjoyed this movie and it has a good enough tale to be interested in πŸ™‚ Enjoy πŸ˜€

I give this film 3.5 Stars out of 5!

Singin’ in the Rain

Singin’ in the Rain (1952)

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Musical

This is a great musical and movie πŸ™‚ I had never seen this film before (until now πŸ˜› ) but I already knew half the songs in this film πŸ˜› . The songs are fantastic! Such as “Singin’ in the Rain”, “Make Em’ Laugh” and “Good Morning” πŸ˜€ . The story itself is very entertaining and has some amazing characters. The romance between Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and Kathy Seldon (Debbie Reynolds) was believable plus I think they may have become one of my favourites in the Musicals genre πŸ˜› . I also loved the character of Cosmo Brown (Donald O’Connor) who was brilliantly funny πŸ™‚ Also the character of Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) was also funny and good in her villain role πŸ˜› . This Musical does fall for the trap of a random ballet routine which happens a lot a Musicals of the 40’s – 50’s πŸ˜› . But it actually works well with the story πŸ™‚ . Plus I loved the ending πŸ™‚ . A great nostalgic feeling that is great for the entire family πŸ™‚ Enjoy πŸ˜€

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5!

The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1

The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1 (2016)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Mystery

I was truly excited to see this film after the revelation at the end of the last movie πŸ™‚ . The drama lands you straight back into the world plus its problems and the story is pretty good. It was more informative, it certainly made it more different from the Hunger Games Links that people refer to and I did quite enjoy this film πŸ˜€ . However, I did miss the element that I used to love about this film. I loved the dreamscapes/CGI cool action shots that the previous films had. Though the “new” world technological was good, the action they did give was passable and I loved when they first found the “new” outside world. The cast acted good but I think the middle of the film was its weakest point. The beginning I liked, the ending I loved especially with the darker tone πŸ˜› . I can’t deny I was entertained but it lost me at times and I so wish it hadn’t. I was left wanting more but not in a good way. Great film for the series, helps continue the story, great if you’re a fan but weakest of the series so far I think. Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 3 stars out of 5!

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

What I like about these movies is the fact it literally is continuing where the last one finished πŸ˜› . The idea of the narrative is good but there was something missing. It felt like a need to fix a error they had made (which I don’t think it was as it made that story good) and felt shoved together. Personally, I liked the regeneration of Spock as the CGI wasn’t too bad and it was interesting for the narrative. The rest of the story is a little slow to build and the one moment (someone dies won’t say who πŸ˜› ) that should have been surprising but was a little predicable. Though I did like the other characters reactions to the news but it could have been done better πŸ˜› . This film is useful to understand the next film but it was one of the weakest of the Star Trek movies. Β Though I did appreciate seeing Christopher Lloyd as Commander Kruge πŸ™‚ . Interesting enough movie to get through if you’re a fan of the Star Trek franchise but it’s not the best. Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 2 Stars out of 5!

The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi

This is a pretty decent film of Star Trek movies (based on the original Television series) and was actually enjoyable πŸ™‚ . The narrative itself is quite entertaining especially if you were a fan of the Star Trek series. What I did like was that it did not require me to know the series before hand. Plus this film made me feel that I may have been too harsh on my review of Star Trek IV πŸ˜› . This story was good, acting not too bad and it had a few twists πŸ˜› . I liked that fact they weren’t afraid to “kill” characters and the CGI “explosions” did not feel out the place (even if weren’t that great πŸ˜› ). I loved the character of Khan (Ricardo Montalban) who looked fabulous! I actually liked the costumes and setting of this film as it gave a pretty decent effect. Plus I wasn’t bored πŸ˜› . I loved the fact that it helped me appreciate the original series and I can look at later films (like Star Trek IV) and not be confused anymore πŸ˜› . Plus the character of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) deserves some of the credit in this movie πŸ˜€ . Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 3 Stars of 5!

Hail, Caesar!

Hail, Caesar! (2016)

Genre: Comedy, Mystery

I was so excited for this film and waited in anticipation as the trailers made this film seem awesome. I can’t lie, I was majorly disappointed. Comedy…yes it is. Was it my kind of comedy? I really don’t know. There were truly amazing elements in this film and parts of it made me laugh. I loved the Channing Tatum’s Tap dance and I did like seeing each individual character’s movie, making a joke on the Classic films of the 50’s πŸ™‚ . I also loved the character of Hobie Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich) and Burt Gurney (Channing Tatum) who were Amazing πŸ˜€ ! Literally, every scene Hobie was in was made better by his character πŸ™‚ . The main problem with this film was the trailer. It gave a different impression of what this film was going to be like for me. The Narrative never really took off. I felt like I was waiting throughout while they showed me odd scenes (and not truly exciting ones) that didn’t really feel complete. By the time the film ended I was not satisfied. I guess I expected a build up in a story, climax and satisfying ending but maybe I was expecting too much. I guess I wasn’t entirely bored so it is probably alright but I was disappointed. Plus certain “Stars” in this movie only got shown for what it felt like 5 minutes πŸ˜›Β  Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 2.5 Stars out of 5!

My Sister’s Keeper

My Sister’s Keeper (2009)

Genre: Drama

This is one beautiful movie. It has superb acting within this film from everybody especially from Abigail Breslin who played Anna πŸ™‚ . What I loved most about this movie was that it wasn’t so clear cut. I am completely on the side of the child Anna but you can understand everyone’s point of view which somehow works πŸ˜› . You are watching something that has a serious issue / theme and the narrative is incredibly intriguing. It is heartbreaking and it will make the majority of people cry πŸ˜› . The story is also very believable with how everyone reacts, how it could break a family apart and this film has some epic lines “I’m sorry I let them hurt you…”. I liked the narration throughout this film especially near the beginning and near the end. Though, I know the ending differs from how the book ends so those who love the book may hate this ending but I loved it πŸ™‚ . It was surprising yet sweet with a nice message to boot πŸ˜› . Overall a tear-jerking but beautiful film with a strong message and brilliant acting :D. Enjoy πŸ™‚

I give this film 4.5 Stars out of 5!

How to Be Single

How to Be Single (2016)

Genre: Comedy, Romance

Okay let’s start this review off by saying this is not the best film ever but I actually enjoyed it πŸ™‚ . It has a great cast plus Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson are great πŸ™‚ . I believed all of the characters and their struggles. Plus this film is funny πŸ˜› . Seriously, there are absolutely funny moments that work as they make a joke about themselves and the genre of the film. For example, I loved the taxi ride “home” scene as it was brilliant (I won’t spoil you will know it when you see it πŸ˜› ).Β  I liked that the narrative wasn’t pointless and it kept tricking me πŸ˜› . You can’t be certain who will end with who and I liked that it was a little unpredictable. This film is aimed at women and it will only appeal to those who love this type of humour and the style of film. Therefore, I can understand why this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Though I loved it πŸ™‚ Plus I loved the drink number scene with Alice (Dakota Johnson) and Tom (Anders Holm) :D. Plus Loved the ending πŸ™‚ Not the best Rom Com Movie in the world but pretty decent πŸ˜› Enjoy πŸ˜€

I give this film 4 Stars out of 5!
