The League of Extraordinary Gentleman

League of Extraordinary Gentleman (2003)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

This is an amazing and entertaining film and I am surprised it got so many bad reviews. First off this is based off a comic and is an alternative Victorian world. Therefore, it is understandable if there are tanks and stuff that don’t belong there because this is a alternative world 😛 ! That aside the narrative itself was very interesting, entertaining and had a decent plot twist to boost 🙂 . I suppose you could say it is a little obvious but personally I think with all the action and drama it is played out well. This film had great cast and Sean Connery makes this film as Allan Quatermain 🙂 ! However, there was one thing that did bother me which was Peta Wilson as Mina Harker. She played her great but I couldn’t get over the fact her character got curly hair as she fought (got angry) then straight hair when she was calm. It becomes a little too funny when you notice it 😛 . Also I really want a sequel. It needs a sequel 😛 ! However, a decent film so enjoy 😀 !!

I give this film 4.5 Stars out of 5!

Unfriended

Unfriended (2015)

Genre: Horror, Thriller

This is a new unique horror that is worth watching simply for the experience 🙂 ! This is terrifying! Seriously it is the first horror that made me jump throughout and I almost wanted to leave the cinema because it was so uncomfortable! The narrative was well crafted, filmed realistically and the way the actors responded to each other made the film seem real. The “deaths” where gruesome yet the sounds of the computer (programme?) made each one worse than the last. The narrative was shocking and the psychological thriller element got bigger as the film continued. The actors were great, the design of the film unique and it will obviously get loads of squeals straight away 😛 ! A brilliant horror that will suit both the fans of gore and hammer style horrors 😛 ! Deserves a watch even just once 🙂 ! Enjoy 🙂 !

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5!

Ouija

Ouija (2014)

Genre: Horror

This film’s narrative actually wasn’t that bad and had potential. The beginning began well, gripping in its twists and was a good set up to how the film would continue 🙂 . The horror sections were much better in the first half of this movie as it was intriguing and the storyline was curious. However, even though I did enjoy this film, the narrative (once ghost revealed) got a little predictable. This film is for those who like “jumpy” rather than “gore” horror but I was expecting the pace to pick up or start to get more intense. It tried. The actors were good but they didn’t really stand out (that could be down the characters…). The ending of the film (the actual ending not the second half of film) really bugged me. It was really typical ending of the horror genre. An okay enough horror to watch with your friends (or family if that’s your thing 😛 ) but not the best 😛 ! Enjoy 🙂

I give this film 2.5 Stars out of 5!

Prometheus

Prometheus (2012)

Genre: Adventure, Mystery, Sci-Fi

This film was entertaining enough, had dramatic disasters / attacks and it does kind of make you want to watch a sequel… As you can see I’m a little mixed about this film. I actually do enjoy watching it but somehow, certain sections bore me and got me a little confused. They have created a film that is meant to be a prequel to the alien films but personally I think it feels more like a film all of its own. The monsters they created were very strong. So strong I am surprised that anyone (the entire human race) could survive such a creature 😛 . Plus as much as I enjoyed the beginning section, I am left confused by its relevance and whether it was needed for this film at all. Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron were amazing in this film and would recommend it for them alone 😛 ! The beginning is good, the middle gets weird (and boring) but the ending kind of saves itself. It is a good enough sci-fi to watch but it is not the best either. Enjoy 🙂 !

I give this film 3 stars out of 5!

Hercules

Hercules (1997)

Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy, Disney, Family Film, Children

This is one of those Disney Classic which you wouldn’t automatically name first but the minute you watch it (first time or re-watch 😛 ) you fall in love with it 🙂 ! The characters are constructed wonderfully from the heart break of Meg, the hilarious character of Phil to the evil but just as funny Hades! The music / songs in this film are among my favourite from Disney as they are so catchy yet fit well with the entertaining narrative. Sometimes you could say the humour affects the narrative but for me, I think it is in prefect balance 😛 . I like the beginning section the most (the build up) but the scene with Hercules going to the underworld (spoilers, its near the end of the movie :P) is really amazing 🙂 . The monsters are good but for me the Hydra is the best 😛 ! This film is entertaining for all, the characters are brilliant and it has amazing songs 🙂 Enjoy 😀 !

Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch (2011)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Personally I think this is a really good action film with a truly entertaining narrative 😀 . It full of craziness, a Japanese anime feel to it, big explosions and dramatic scenery. The way the girls are dressed would make most believe this film is aimed at men, which might be true but quite honestly, this film is quite underrated. This is a film where women can enjoy the narrative as well. I liked the “arty” feel to the film with the slow motion, CGI, the dark hue over the film (in the real world) and the contrasting bright colours of the dream 🙂 . It has plenty of twists and the girls (who play the main five) actually create good characters. You understand each one even if they aren’t the ones the film is focussing on. The battle scenes did feel a little bit of a video game vibe with some of their “moves” 😛 . A good film if you like action, decent characters and an entertaining narrative 🙂 Enjoy 😀 !

The Sword and the Stone

The Sword and the Stone (1963)

Genre: Disney, Animation, Adventure, Comedy, Children, Family Film

This is a wonderful film with a bunch of charming characters but unfortunately the plot line could have been better planned. Don’t get me wrong the story is lovely and I enjoy all the various missions Merlin puts Wart through (the squirrel scene my favourite ) 🙂 ! However, the most interesting part of the narrative was near the end, which makes you feel this film’s ending was too short to be satisfactory! Personally, they could have focused on the narrative more on encouraging Arthur rather than just the magic. However, this is still a fantastic film for children or the entire family 😀 ! My favourite character was Archimedes and I would recommend you watch this film just for his scenes 😛 ! A wonderful Disney Classic that is enjoyable for all even if the narrative wasn’t that wow 😛 ! Enjoy 🙂 !

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

This film gives you action, explosions, fast cars and more action 😛 ! I couldn’t really ask for more from this gritty, heavily relying on special effects action movie and it definitely entertained those around me . However, for myself I was left feeling a little disappointed. The actors where good and I was shocked a few times with the “unexpected” deaths (I almost jumped out of my seat at one moment 😛 ). I did like the world they were in which made some of the actions of the characters relatable but I didn’t get to know enough. I felt nothing for most of the characters because they didn’t really give you much to go on. Though they did give enough for the narrative to move along. The ending wasn’t as strong as I would have liked either. A decent enough film if you love action movies and where a fan of the original films 🙂 . Enjoy 🙂 !

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014)

Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Family Film

The final (I think it will be)of the Night at the Museum film series! I must say from the off it was way better than “Battle of the Smithsonian” and had me entertained throughout 😀 ! It was sad to see Robin Williams in one of his last films ever but he was awesome! The film was quite funny throughout, new characters and I was quite happy that it was set in the British Museum 😛 ! Rebel Wilson and Hugh Jackman were amazing as always 😛 ! It was a nice conclusion to the series of films and felt like the right ending. A ending that makes you feel good about it 🙂 . This a really good film that I recommend you watch but it had one thing that brought its mark down for me. They seemed to have forgotten everything that happened in film 2 😛 ! Enjoy 😀 !
