This is a decent film which I personally loved. It was different and the continuous camera effect / techniques used within film was spectacular! The acting was superb from the entire cast and I actually thought Taylor Swift’s portrayal of Rosemary was pretty good 🙂 . It was good to see a Utopian film for once as often you see nowadays young adult dystopian films 😛 . My favourite section was when the colour entered the world the more that Jonas saw. It was different and kept me captivated as he learnt more about the “real” world. My only negative comment about this film is it ended too short for me. It felt that more could have been said, explained and I felt a little disappointed. However, that was only small and since I have never read the book, I don’t know if the book ended the same. Highly enjoyable, well structured narrative and brilliant acting. Enjoy 😀 !!
It is not listed in the Genre above but this Sci-fi film is definitely a Romance 😛 ! I did not know it would be a romance and from the trailers I was all ready to accept a brilliant Sci-Fi Movie. It’s ok. The action scenes were great, big scenery and enough graphics to fill your boots. The design work (dresses, outfits) was sublime! The characterization and portrayal of the three main actors Mila Kunis (Jupiter Jones), Channing Tatum (Caine Wise) and Eddie Redmayne (Balem Abrasax) was fantastic. However, the rest of the movie was rather generic and typical. The ending was predictable. The way we were introduced to everyone, one at a time and only one truly big battle to end all. Very Sci-fi. They focussed on the Romance part too much and left the Sci-Fi to traditional conventions. So much more could have been developed. I wanted her to stop them all, to do something grand but it ended as expected. A shame for a movie that was so good but just missed out being great. Though entertaining and worth a watch. Enjoy! 🙂
This is the first Anime biography film I have seen so far and let me say it is brilliant 😀 ! It tells us all about the life of Jiro Horikoshi who designed the Japanese fighter planes. I had not known much about this man but the film was very informative without becoming boring. It kept the magic of most films from Studio Ghibli but kept a sense of seriousness about it. The artwork was sublime 🙂 ! I also enjoyed how they had used voices for the sounds of the “planes” and various other dramatic moments, making it very unique. It was wonderful written, gripping, charming and constantly hinting the horrors of the Second World War. It was refreshing and the ending had me in tears! I definitely recommend this film! Enjoy 🙂 !
Genre: Animation, Adventure, Family, Romance, Fantasy
Another film from Studio Ghibli that I have adored since I first watched it back in 2004! This is a wonderful tale of magic, mystery, adventure and obviously Romance 😛 ! The art work is brilliant and I actually really like the background music as it helps with the atmosphere of the film. The humour in this film is fantastic especially the character of Calcifer. The war elements that interfere with Sophie’s adventure creates a ominous expectation and makes some of the best action scenes in this film. I personally loved when Sophie got closer to solving the mystery of Howl. The characters were crafted well that you understood each one and this tale is one of my favourites! It’s unique and brilliant! I seriously recommend this film! Enjoy 😀 !
There has been so many terrible reviews for this film and quite honestly I did not know why? I am one of the few people who have never read the books so I went to see this film mostly clueless (though I knew enough of what it was about 😛 ). The actors were okay and the narrative was passable. I was intrigued in the characters and wanted to know why Mr. Grey was as he “was”. The sex scenes were again passable, would I say erotic? No but that made the film better for me. Because they focused on the narrative not simply sex. I loved the ending the best as it was so sudden and the music accompanying was brilliant (worked with enhancing the quality of the film) 🙂 ! I did see the Twilight references but it was subtle. Overall, I thought it was a good film because I was not giving it such a high expectation. Therefore, watch this film open hearted, don’t judge it and just enjoy the tale. However, it is a 18 so adults only please! Enjoy 🙂 !
This is a lovely film which definitely knows how to bring out the tears in you! It was wonderfully crafted that you ended up laughing with the character and almost (sometimes always) reaching for the tissues! I would not say it is the most action packed film in the world. Plus it really does play to the expectations of a emotional charmer with the theme of romance. Chloë Grace Moretz was wonderful in this and helped the narrative along as she played such a good role! At times the narrative did seem to slow down but personally I think it worked and the shocks in this film would have been good if I hadn’t watched the trailer beforehand. Therefore, I would suggest watching this film but avoid any trailer or review that tells you the plot line! They seriously say too much which could affect your enjoyment of the film! Enjoy!!
The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella (1976)
Genre: Adventure, Family, Fantasy
This film was suggested to me by a friend and I have loved it since 😀 ! I’m not usually a fan of 1970’s movies (waiting to be convinced 😛 ) but I was happily surprised and would re-watch this film anytime. The songs are wonderfully written and you end up singing along to half of them weeks later 😛 ! It’s the classic tale of Cinderella revisited and made into a musical which can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Though, I would warn you there are cheesy moments and overacting of side characters which make it endearing to me but could get annoying for others. The acting of Richard Chamberlain and Gemma Craven is wonderful (and believable). It’s a great movie to watch, full of nostalgia and a wonderfully fairytale into musical 🙂 ! Enjoy!!
Genre: Animation, Disney, Children, Family Film, Action, Adventure, Marvel
This is the newest addition to the Disney Classics so far and this time it’s based off Marvel! I loved this film! It was really fun and had superheroes in it 🙂 ! I had worried that this film would not surpass the amazing success they had with Frozen but Disney has created lovable characters and a well structured narrative. Baymax was my favourite character who was a fresh addition to the Disney family! The relationship between Hiro and Baymax is a adorable and I liked the fact we had powerful girls in this group! Plenty of humour, touching moments and deserves to be in the top Classics. It’s a film that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike 🙂 ! So if you want to watch a Disney-fied Marvel comic, humour, robots, supervillains and Baymax then this is the film for you!! Enjoy!!
This is a stunning film based off a novel telling us all about the Civil rights movement in the 1960’s America. It tells us straight away that it will be a film which makes you feel for the poor Black people and the struggles they faced back then. The actors are superb and you are captivated by Viola Davis as without her, this film would not have been the same 🙂 ! The ending scene was the most heartbreaking which I ended up hating the two main (evil) white women played wonderfully by Bryce Dallas Howard and Ahna O’Reilly. It had funny moments, memorable moments, stunning acting, dramatic scenes and heartbreaking moments making a wonderful film 🙂 . I was hoping for more when I realised I had hit the end of the film which disappointed me but it was still a powerful movie! This is a film I would happily recommend!! Enjoy 😀 !
