Solomon Kane

Solomon Kane (2009)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

This film began great, gripping, dark and dramatic 🙂 ! We got to see monsters, creatures and the beginning of a great story from the outset but then somehow…the rest of the film just did not compare. First off I couldn’t get past the error from the outset, they set the film in 1600 with the flag showing the United Kingdom…that was not created till around 1606 (the flag) and the one we saw, its design only began getting used around 1801! However, that is only going to bother people who know that particularly so I tried to ignore it, hoping the film’s narrative would make me forgive the first mistake. Unfortunately, as much as they tried…the story got slow, a bit predicable and they shoved in too many religious symbols. I do like religious symbols in movies but when there is so many that it’s affecting the tale? The actors were good and at moments the story did keep me intrigued plus overall I was not bored. So if you like predictable fantasy movies that have a dark element to it then this is for you but personally it could have been better.

I give this film 2.5 Stars out of 5!

There are many paths to redemption, not all of them peaceful!
