Priest

Priest (2011)

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Horror

This film in my opinion had so much promise. It had a great cast; Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Lily Collins, Maggie Q and Stephen Moyer 🙂 ! The story began well, giving the hint that this is meant to be a horror. But that beginning section was the scariest thing for me and that was not a lot. I actually enjoyed the narrative, it made sense, it had a purpose and the characters all had a reason to be there. However, the tension and dramatic fight scenes seemed to have lost something. I was not gripped, I felt like there where too many gaps in the fights and narrative that I felt, as an audience, that Vampires where shoved at me to keep the story alive. I did like the look of the Vampires and I actually began getting interested in the story in the train section. It ended with too many questions about the plot, villains and the main characters that I felt a bit disappointed. It deserves a sequel but it will have to work extremely hard because this film felt incomplete. This review is getting a mid way score because I was entertained, I really liked Karl Urban’s acting in this, but it lacked so much as a film.

I give this film 2.5 Stars out of 5!
