Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Adventure, Marvel

This, I have been told, is not the favourite film of the Avengers franchise and others have surpassed it. However, I would happily disagree πŸ™‚ I love this film, the dramatic plot line, the cast was superb and the narrative gave us everything we needed for the next film (the Avengers Assemble) and more :D. I don’t know whether I am just being slightly biased because I love films based in 1940 but this film worked hard to make the set/costumes suit the period and I liked the fact that, being in 1940’s, it is different from the other movies. The dialogue is witty, works well throughout, the acting of Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving fabulous and I loved the references from the other films (Stark, for an example πŸ˜€ ). I would definitely recommend this fantastic film of Captain America as you will be entertained and captivated from the start! πŸ™‚ Plus you really need to watch this otherwise you will be very confused for the second Captain America film πŸ˜›

I give this film 5 Stars out of 5 πŸ™‚

Bratz

Bratz (2007)

Genre: Comedy, Family, Music

I was really expecting this film to be dull and with very false actors in and to my surprise, it was better then I imagined. Yes the story line is weak and the comedy element from Meredith’s (the villain) little sister is so annoying…but it overall was not that bad. The story was pleasant and it had tried to captivate the magic from the original franchise but the acting did become false as they tried to “over-act”. I did like the fact they had changed the character of Dylan for this film and as I have said once before, it was not terrible. However, if you don’t mind paying much attention to this film, to have a laugh at with friends about this film (not in a good way :P) and are not expecting big amazing songs…then this is the film for you! Otherwise you are best avoiding this one πŸ™‚ Plus the last song (the song we are suppose to be waiting for)…it starts plain then gets terrible. And I mean Terrible ;P

I give this film (for not being as bad as I thought) 2 Stars out of 5.

Shaun of the Dead

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Genre: Comedy, Horror

I was recommended to watch Shaun of the Dead by my sister who is not the biggest fan of horror. I love this film for the way they play on the stereotypes and cliche of typical Zombie/horror movies but add in British humour πŸ˜› It is a fantastic film and you cannot stop but laugh at the all the jokes and fabulous acting of the entire cast πŸ˜€ It is another Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film that you need to watch! So if you want a Romantic Comedy with Zombies than this is the film for you!! Also look out for the Cornetto in this film (The one that appears in all of their films together ;P) and the Pub scenes are hilarious πŸ˜€

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

X-Men 3: The Last Stand (2006)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci – Fi, Marvel

When I first watched this movie in 2006, I remember hating this film πŸ˜› But as I am older I can see that younger me was a little judgmental πŸ˜› This film’s narrative is quite good, I liked the scenes with Jean Grey and especially the younger scenes. I wish we could have seen some characters from the last film return in this (Nightcrawler) and Angel could have helped more in the final scenes (In my opinion). I was not really impressed with Rogue especially what she does in this film (if you have watched you will know what I mean :P). It is a generally good film and it deserves to be watched but I still could not help feeling disappointed at the end.

I give this film 3 Stars out of 5 πŸ™‚

X-Men 2

X-Men (2003)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci Fi, Marvel

X-Men 2 Β is the sequel to the 2000 film and from the start we are introduced to dramatic plot lines and shocking twists πŸ™‚ I really liked this sequel as it continued the characters well and I really liked the characters Nightcrawler and Lady Deathstrike πŸ˜€ Amazing πŸ™‚ I was a little off put by the character of Storm right at the beginning but the lovely Halle Berry saves her for the rest of the film πŸ™‚ I think this film is done well by captivating the audience, giving us a dramatic story line, twist, new characters and leaving a fantastic Cliff hanger πŸ˜› Plus the story of Stryker is introduced for the first time in this saga and done amazingly in this film πŸ™‚

I give this film 4 Stars out of 5!

X-Men

X-Men (2000)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Marvel

I loved the X-Men series and I loved the movie franchise as well πŸ˜› This movie does not show all the characters you might have loved to see from the comic and personally I don’t know how close Brian Singer was to the original but…it is still a great movie πŸ™‚ I love the acting of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan as Professor X and Magneto πŸ˜› I don’t think I could see anyone else playing these roles (except James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender but I’m not talking about their film yet :P). This story is written well, it is a great introduction to the Mutant world and is performed by a Stellar Cast πŸ˜€ If you love X-Men watch this first film of the franchise and for those who have never seen it …this is a great way to begin πŸ˜› Also it is the first time you see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine πŸ˜€ Enjoy πŸ™‚

Godzilla

Godzilla (1998)

Genre: Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi

I loved this film when I was younger because I was so captivated by the story line and was so impressed by the monsters :). However, now I am older, I do notice the bad CGI and I do notice the slightly cheesy / slightly annoying characters of Audrey Timmonds and Dr. Niko Tatopoulos. I do know a lot of people hated this film because it did not refer to the original Godzilla as much as it could have but…I still love this film πŸ™‚ Its story line is dramatic, it focuses on the “Godzilla” well, highly entertaining and I loved the section with the Madison Square Garden “Monsters”. If you take this movie as it is, ignore the CGI which is starting to show its age and not try to compare it to other movies…You will enjoy this typical 90’s monster movie πŸ˜›

Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park (1993)

Genre: Adventure, Sci-Fi, Thriller

This is another of my favourite Childhood films and I still enjoy watching it many years later πŸ™‚ It’s a film that can be enjoyed by young and old and the narrative is so cleverly written that it can be enjoyed years to come :). Because the Dinosaurs areΒ animatronics and they don’t completely rely on CGI, it means that the film is not ruined by out of date graphics. That allows you to be enhanced by the narrative and you being scared (I was scared as a child but still loved it πŸ™‚ ) by the terrific Dinosaurs πŸ˜› I truly recommend people to watch this film, (with the awesome soundtrack) if you have not seen it yet!

I give this film 5 stars out of 5 πŸ˜€

Cinderella

Cinderella (1950)

Genre: Animation, Fantasy, Family Film, Children, Disney

This has to be one of Disney’s most well known films and you can’t help but understand why once you have seen this classic. The animation and art work is splendid and the songs are very pleasant that they are memorable yet not hard to sing along with :P. The entire narrative works well, captivating you into the Disney Magic and all characters and scenes help enhance the tale πŸ™‚ There is not Β much I can say without repeating myself over the amazing tale of Cinderella, it is a perfect film for both children and adult alike and you cannot help but think nice thoughts after this film has ended. A classic Disney movie that gives you what you expect and more, plus it does not make you notice the era (doesn’t automatically scream the 50’s at you like the humour/style of other Disney Movies) making it a Timeless Classic :D.

I give this film 5 stars out of 5!
