I hope you all had a Fabulous New Year’s and may 2018 give you plenty of films to watch 😛 .
I have come to an executive decision regarding The Quirky Panda and unfortunately, I have decided to take a break. The work load may not seem a lot but it has taken a toll on me for a while alongside everything else and I am going to take a break for the year to get all other parts of my life in order.
I am so happy that you have followed me so far and thank you in advance if you stay 😀 . This doesn’t mean goodbye forever and who knows I may return earlier than planned 😛 .
So feel free to look at previous posts and I hope you have a great time and I may see you again soon.
This is a classic Christmas movie suitable for the entire family 😀 . The story itself is very entertaining and captivating from beginning to the end. The dialogue is witty and amusing which will create some laughter from you whether you are a child or an adult 😛 . The idea of the story is unique “The Santa Clause” and how Scott Clavin is forced into this story. The effect he goes under is very funny and helps keep the story entertaining but light hearted too 🙂 . I liked the North Pole world and the explanation for how Santa gets down the chimney (when you watch it you will know 😛 ). The ending was sweet and the animation on the reindeers is not that bad, which makes it passable for the tale. Tim Allen as Scott Clavin is great and his costume as Santa Claus is awesome 😀 !! He is certainly the picture of Santa that you imagine 😛 . Charlie (Eric Lloyd) is adorable and his relationship with his father is sweet. The elf’s were good especially Judy (Paige Tamada) but personally, I was not a fan of Bernard (David Krumholtz) but you can’t say his character is not memorable 😛 . Laura Calvin Miller (Wendy Crewson) and Dr. Neil Miller (Judge Reinhold) are not good characters in this (work for the tale but not likable) but to be fair, I disliked the mother more. Let’s just say she is not winning Mother of the Year awards from her actions in this movie 😛 . Overall, a great Christmas movie for the entire family 😀 . Enjoy 😀
I was looking forward to an epic adventure about a classic biblical tale that should have been good especially with the level of CGI available 🙂 . However, I found this film just okay. The first half of the movie was passable (almost boring) as you are willing to accept everything for the “action” to start. It already feels too long before we have even got to the plagues which should have been the big money spinner scenes full of CGI and awesomeness. However, it really is not. CGI is okay but that’s the only credit I can give 😛 . The director, Ridley Scott, has taken away the magic element and tried to make things more realistic to a tale that did not need it. For example, the river that turns red now involves crocodiles… 😛 . Moses (Christian Bale) was not likable and did not inspire me to want his character to succeed. Half the slaves were destroyed in the process of the plagues / events happening and the fact the Egyptian Pharaoh is not given the explanation before the final plague made me like his characters over Moses. The film was too long as it was trying to achieve a grand epic feel like from old style movies but in doing so left the film without emotion. It just plods along while getting you annoyed from the plagues onwards. I found the dialogue was not captivating to keep me entertained and I was waiting for the film to finish as I was getting bored. This is a highly disappointing film that should have been great but is awful and will annoy anyone who loved the original story. I don’t think I will ever watch this again and will not recommend this movie 😛 . Enjoy if you can 😛
This new Christmas movie from Netflix had been recommended to me and almost everyone I knew had been watching this. So naturally I had to watch this movie this Christmas 😛 . First off, this film is alright and pleasant to watch from beginning 🙂 . The story was easy to follow and half way did have a surprising twist (about the Prince) that I did not see coming. The film is very predictable apart from that one twist (that I just hinted at 😛 ) and is cliché. Picture a typical romance movie involving a struggling working class girl and a handsome prince and you will probably know most of this tale already. Also when you work with cliché then expect cheesiness in some of the scenes and dialogue. The romance and characters of Amber (Rose McIver) and Prince Richard (Ben Lamb) was good and believable enough for the story 🙂 . The best character and best acting came from Honor Kneafsey as the Princess Emily 😀 . It was a pleasant enough story that is perfect for a family movie though it is not the best out there. It does what it says on the tin…it’s a Christmas romance film. The story can keep you entertained and good romance for those romance fans 😀 . Plus the outfits and set were pretty good too. It’s worth a watch for anyone looking for a light hearted Christmas themed romance 🙂 . I quite liked it but I know this is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea 😛 . Enjoy 😀
The newest Star Wars movie that almost everyone has been excited to see and I was so glad I did 😀 . The story was very entertaining and kept me fairly engaged from start to finish. The characters we got to know from the last film returned and we got to see Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) again which is great 🙂 . There had been a change to his character which I did not mind too much as it gave depth and new development to the narrative. Plus it is nice to see Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) in this movie as well 🙂 . The music is typical and normal to a Star Wars movie which gives any fan a sense of nostalgia. I loved the development between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) which was interesting to watch and made the film that bit more intriguing 😀 . The new creatures were also good in this movie especially the bird like ones (on Luke’s planet) which were cute and funny 😀 . The action and fight scenes were entertaining, enjoyable for any fan of big space fights and were choreographed well. The graphics were top notch like we expected and the film was surprisingly full of humour from the dialogue and reference for old fans to appreciate. However, some parts of this movie were not as good as expected and sequels to movies are often not as good as the first. The resistance seems to be in a never ending depressive defeat, stupid moves from certain good characters and an edge of cheesiness from some of the scenes (like that ending… 😛 ). I know from other reviews this may not seem like a good sequel but I loved it 😀 . Yes, it is not as good as the first but I would happily watch this again and can’t wait for the next instalment 😛 . Enjoy 😀
I recently got to see this movie in a preview and was extremely excited to see this sequel to one of my favourite childhood films of all time. I was so happy to not be disappointed, surprised and was captivated from beginning to the end 😀 . I loved all the characters in this film especially the character of Bethany (Madison Iseman and Jack Black) 🙂 . She surprised me as a character (I liked her more than I thought I would) and Jack Black was hilarious as a teenage girl 😛 . Nick Jonas was also a great addition and his character of Alex was very intriguing for the story. My favourite avatar characters were Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson) and Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan) especially their skill set in the game 😛 . The story was strong and entertaining plus the comedy element in this movie was high. I was laughing throughout and liked all characters though Fridge (Ser’Darius Blain and Kevin Hart) was my least favourite (though his character got better later on 😛 ). I liked how the game changed, I loved the world inside the game plus the CGI was very good. I also adored that they had not forgotten the original movie by adding a reference now and then. The action scenes were great especially the scene with the helicopter 😀 . I was very happy with this movie and it did exactly what it said it would do from the trailers. This is a great sequel for any original Jumanji fan and I cannot wait to watch this movie again 🙂 . Enjoy 😀
From the trailers I already knew this film was going to make me cry but I am glad it did 😀 . The story was sad but charming, lovely and actually very inspiring. Jacob Tremblay (Auggie Pullman) was amazing and made us feel this poor boy’s pain of trying to survive school. The situation and the reactions around him makes you cry but also warm to his character 🙂 . What I adored and what surprised me was that this story was not all about him! I was surprised but loved that we saw the narration and story switch to others in this movie 🙂 . I liked learning about what Via (Izabela Vidovic) felt through all this and it made her one of my favourite characters 😀 . The acting was superb from everyone in this movie and the pace of film ran well 🙂 . I was not bored at any point throughout and one of my favourite scenes was near the beginning when Auggie mentions the “Punch-line” (I won’t say more as I don’t want to spoil 😛 ). I liked that the story did not run smoothly for the characters but I did not fear that I was going to get a depressive tale. The children and the acceptance from people was great to see later on and it made want to see another film (maybe of them older?) but I know that can’t happen 😛 . It was a great film that I would happily watch again, and I loved the idea and message of this tale plus I really need to read the book now 😛 !! I am sure fans of this book will enjoy this adaptation and it is fabulous for all ages to watch 🙂 . Enjoy 😀
There has been some anticipation regarding the DC Cinematic Universe especially after the success of Wonder Woman (2017). The story ran well and I was fairly entertained from beginning until the end 🙂 . The CGI is good and the fight scenes okay but the villain was not impressive. Not that he was terrible but he was certainly predictable and I had no fear he would win. Wonder Woman (Gal Godot) was great in her scenes (the suitcase scene was good) and her chemistry with Batman (Ben Affleck) was great 😀 . The Flash (Ezra Miller) was a good and almost funny character though I took a while to like him as I can still remember the Flash from the TV series 😛 . The idea of the story was quite predictable which was disappointing as it made me wait as they inevitably find each other and work together. The twist (which you probably can guess from the trailers 😛 ) was again predictable but at least how he came “back” was interesting. The jokes are not that funny (though some are passable 😛 ) and Batman’s attitude towards Wonder Woman was annoying (when they are deciding what to do about the “Twist”). To be fair, this film is not terrible. It had some good elements, CGI is good and it was fairly good at continuing from the previous movies 🙂 . I do wish it had held more surprises then what they showed us in trailers but I did appreciate the end credits which was great 😀 . I am glad to have watched it and would recommend this to any fan of the DC movies 🙂 . Enjoy 😀
